An Operating System is the software that communicates with the hardware of a PC and works as the intermediary between all the applications and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transfers requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, web servers also have an Operating System that serves as a host for all of the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be generated on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server packages that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also considered to be among the most stable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones as each one of them is backed by a separate community. The packages which you can add on your server are different and this may matter in case you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel that you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you will pick. You can choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if necessary, we can always install the server anew with another one upon your request. As an optional service that you could add to the plan any time, we can update the OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible.
